Last week also saw the beginning of roadway reconstruction
along Central Road from Glenridge Drive to Glenayre Drive. The process has
consisted of removing materials below the existing pavement, removing and
replacing additional unsuitable materials below the proposed pavement, and
installing a new layer of aggregate base materials.
While residents living within the daily work area will not
have access to their driveway during working hours, access will be restored
prior at the end of each day. We will notify each resident prior to access
being restricted. In the case of an emergency, please speak with the
contractor or engineer on-site and we will allow access as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your understanding during the road reconstruction process and
inconvenience this is causing to your daily lives.
A second underground utility crew also began removing and
replacing the existing sanitary sewer manholes along the project and installing
new PVC sanitary sewer services along Westview Road.
Next week DiMeo Brothers will continue to reconstruct
Central Road from Glenridge Drive to Glendale Drive. The contractor is
anticipating to prepare for and install the new concrete curb & gutter on
both sides of Central Road mid next week. During concrete curb & gutter
installation, access will be restricted to driveways for up to 1 week while the
roadway is graded and the concrete is poured and allowed to properly cure. Residents will be notified of exact
dates, restrictions on accessing your driveways, and parking instructions in
the very near future once plans are finalized.
Next week, the contractor will also perform the necessary
testing on the newly installed water main. Once the water main has passed the
necessary tests, new water services will be installed to each home. New water
services will be installed from the new water main to the existing b-box within
the Village right-of-way. New services will not be installed all the way
to your home. During water service installation, water to individual homes will
be turned off while the transition is made. Typically the water is turned off
for 1-hour. The contractor will knock on the door of each home prior to turning
off the water. It is difficult to determine the exact timing of the water
shut-off; therefore, 24-hour notice is not given. The contractor will work with
you to determine the best time to shut-off the water to the greatest extent
possible.
Also next week, the contractor will continue to replace
existing sanitary sewer manholes and sanitary sewers services along Westview
Road and Glendale Drive.
We understand all residents are greatly affected by the
construction in the area from the difficulty in getting around, not having
access to your driveways, and water shut-downs. Please understand, the Village
is committed to minimizing these inconveniences and giving as much notice as
possible so you may plan accordingly. The Village must also consider the
impacts of reducing some of the inconveniences versus completing the project
has quickly and efficiently as possible.
