Storm Sewer on Glendale to Begin

This past week, DiMeo Brothers  continued with the water service and sanitary sewer service installation along Glendale Drive and Westview Road. Service replacement is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week.   The landscape contractor was also on-site last week installing and grading topsoil as well as installing sod along Central Road.

Next week, the contractor will begin installation of the storm sewer along Glendale Drive starting at Central Road and working north toward Westview Road. During the storm sewer installation, the contractor will be closing the roadway to all traffic during working hours in the vicinity of where they are working for that day. Those residents who live on Glendale Drive, we are asking that you drive around the construction area as much as possible utilizing Glenayre Drive.  When the work is adjacent to your property, access to your driveway will be restricted. The contractor will attempt to notify you prior to restricting access to your driveway to allow you to make arrangement to move cars and park elsewhere.

We would like to thank you in advance for inconvenience caused due to the road closures along Glendale Drive. Thank you also for your patience during the interruptions in water service during water main and service installation. There will likely be additional interruptions to your water service as the final connections are made and the old water main is abandoned. Residents will be notified prior to any scheduled water service shut-downs.

First 2 Layers of Asphalt Installed on Central Road

This past week, DiMeo Brothers  continued the roadway reconstruction process along Central Road from Glendridge Drive to Glendale Drive in preparation for asphalt pavement and asphalt paving on Friday.

The major item of construction last week was the installation of the first two layers of asphalt pavement along Central Road from Glenridge Drive to Glendale Drive. The third, and final, surface layer of asphalt pavement will be installed later in the year once the construction along the other roadways in completed.

This week, the contractor will continue to install water services and sanitary sewer services to each resident along Glendale Drive.

New water services will be installed from the new water main to the existing b-box within the Village right-of-way. New services will not be installed all the way to your home. During water service installation, water to individual homes will be turned off while the transition is made. Typically the water is turned off for 1-hour. The contractor will knock on the door of each home prior to turning off the water. It is difficult to determine the exact timing of the water shut-off; therefore, 24-hour notice is not given. The contractor will work with you to determine the best time to shut-off the water to the greatest extent possible.

Concrete Curb & Gutter Scheduled for Central Road Next Week

This past week, DiMeo Brothers completed the main line water main installation along the entire project. The next step is to perform the required testing prior to placing the main into service and installing new water services to each home.

Last week also saw the beginning of roadway reconstruction along Central Road from Glenridge Drive to Glenayre Drive. The process has consisted of removing materials below the existing pavement, removing and replacing additional unsuitable materials below the proposed pavement, and installing a new layer of aggregate base materials.

While residents living within the daily work area will not have access to their driveway during working hours, access will be restored prior at the end of each day. We will notify each resident prior to access being restricted.  In the case of an emergency, please speak with the contractor or engineer on-site and we will allow access as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding during the road reconstruction process and inconvenience this is causing to your daily lives.

A second underground utility crew also began removing and replacing the existing sanitary sewer manholes along the project and installing new PVC sanitary sewer services along Westview Road.

Next week DiMeo Brothers will continue to reconstruct Central Road from Glenridge Drive to Glendale Drive. The contractor is anticipating to prepare for and install the new concrete curb & gutter on both sides of Central Road mid next week. During concrete curb & gutter installation, access will be restricted to driveways for up to 1 week while the roadway is graded and the concrete is poured and allowed to properly cure.  Residents will be notified of exact dates, restrictions on accessing your driveways, and parking instructions in the very near future once plans are finalized.

Next week, the contractor will also perform the necessary testing on the newly installed water main. Once the water main has passed the necessary tests, new water services will be installed to each home.

Also next week, the contractor will continue to replace existing sanitary sewer manholes and sanitary sewers services along Westview Road and Glendale Drive.

We understand all residents are greatly affected by the construction in the area from the difficulty in getting around, not having access to your driveways, and water shut-downs. Please understand, the Village is committed to minimizing these inconveniences and giving as much notice as possible so you may plan accordingly. The Village must also consider the impacts of reducing some of the inconveniences versus completing the project has quickly and efficiently as possible.
